Your story.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). I love this verse because it reminds me that before I was even born in a little town in West Virginia, God knew my beginning and beyond. He created me and has been with me all these years to watch my story play out.

So, I ask myself, why do I keep trying to hold the pen? If I keep trying to grab the pen, then how will God ever write my story? Psalm 139:16 says that God recorded all the days of your life in His book before you even lived one of them.

How about you? What’s your story, and have you tried for years and years to control circumstances that don’t quite line up with what you think they ought to be?

And, think about this. How about trying to tell your story, your walk with God to someone who needs a savior in their life? Each and every one of our stories can be used by God to connect with someone and to ultimately point them to Jesus. And we’re not supposed to keep these stories to ourselves.

I know I have many stories of faith that without God, I wouldn’t be where I am today. God has included specific plotlines throughout my life to show me my need for Him and to conform me to the image of His Son. I don’t know how He will use those stories, but I don’t need to know. My responsibility is to tell them to others.

So, the bottom line is, quit holding the pen. Let go and let God!
