Contentment.

How often do we take advantage of our conveniences of life? A storm comes and the electric goes out and we panic. We get spoiled and think that we deserve things that some people in the world never get to enjoy.

But a life filled with contentment is so clearly outlined in the Bible that it’s hard to ignore. Over and over again, the scriptures warn against greed and a love for money and material things. It encourages contentment, trust in God, and a deliberate focus on the eternal, not contentment with earthly treasures.

Scripture warns that a "convenient faith" prioritizes personal comfort over obedience, and urges believers to serve others and follow God regardless of the personal cost.

How about you? How comfortable are you with your life? Do you ever think about how you got to where you are today? God made the heavens and the earth, and He made you and me. Take time to thank God for not only the little things like electricity and a home to live in, but thank God for your life.

A believer’s contentment is not to be affected by circumstances, but firmly rooted in the good news of Christ and what he has accomplished for sinners.

Be content in Christ!
