Discipline.

Self-discipline is the ability to make yourself do something you don’t necessarily want to do, to get a result you would really like to have.

Discipline has been a big part of my life, and now that I’m a Personal Trainer, I encourage my clients to exercise themselves into a routine of consistent habits.

Discipline means executing your plan consistently, whether you’re feeling good or bad. It doesn’t matter how you feel right now. You can change your feelings through action because routine action brings about positive feelings.

Athletes and Olympic winners don’t just automatically get the biggest trophy’s because they study the sport. On the contrary, they put in numerous hours and practice around the clock to achieve their ultimate goal.

How does this relate to Christianity? We must regularly exercise ourself in studying the Bible. Just knowing that Jesus died for us doesn’t make us a Christian. We must believe that God sent His Son to this world, to be borne and to die for each one of us, and we must consistently have a desire to read and understand scripture.

Consistent progress leads to success. It involves choosing what you should do over what you want to do in the moment, like sticking to a workout even when tired or focusing on a project instead of distractions.

How about you? Are you disciplined in your daily life? Are you willing to give your life over to Christ and live for Him daily?

1 Corinthians 9:25 - “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”
