Investor or Gambler?

An investor is someone who has a commitment with an expectation. On the other hand, a gambler is someone who takes chances, hoping for a gain.

So, what about when referring to a Christ-centered life? When you give your life to Christ, you start investing in your future. You commit to a new life-style and mindset that intrigues others around you. This investment is a never-ending choice that aligns your goals, plans, aspirations to Christ. You’re investing in your future home in Heaven. Doesn’t that sound more appealing than just living day to day, without a hope of tomorrow?

And then there’s the gamblers, those who will take a chance on any new shiny promise that the world seems to throw at them every day. Some will even go to the point of risking everything to get that next new thing, whether it’s money, drugs, or a relationship.

So where do you fit into this mold? Are you investing in Christ? Have you given your life over to the One who created the world, and knows you inside and out? Or, are you just waking up each day, wondering where your next fix will be, or what you can gamble to get a quick fix?

Rather than facing up to reality, gambling is a form of escapism. Some try to escape their current situation thinking ‘the grass is greener on the other side.’ At the heart of it, gambling is based upon chance. And all must lose for one to gain. But investing is based upon knowledge and all have the opportunity to win.

It’s not money itself that is the problem. It is the LOVE of money that traps many, distracting them from God’s plans for their lives.

Choose life-Choose Christ; the best investment you will ever make.
