Our past.
I have had my share of regrets, mistakes and bad decisions I wish I had never made. But, I have learned not to dwell on these things. Nothing can change our past, but we can put a positive spin on our future.
There are definitely moments in my past that I’m not proud of, choices that were made out of anger or hurt. Again, I refuse to be a prisoner of my past. Those disappointments were just a series of lessons, not a life sentence.
So, don’t look on your past with contempt, disapproval, or despair. Reflect on it and consider how God has grown and prepared you for where you are today. Perhaps your sinful pursuits have given you a passion for helping others turn away from them. Your suffering has likely taught you patience and given you compassion for others who suffer.
Thank God, that at the age of sixteen, I gave my life to Christ. Jesus took all my sin to the cross, and even my future sins. Wow! What an awesome Savior!
How about you? Have you let depression take over in your life, thinking about all the bad stuff that has happened to you? Are you feeling sorry for yourself for not being further along than you thought you should be?
Whether it’s past pains, hurts, experiences, or accomplishments, God wants us to look forward to His life plan for us. I don’t know about you, but I am leaving the past in the past, and looking forward to spending eternity with my Savior.
Break out of your self-pity and try something different. How about asking Jesus into your life? What do you have to lose?
Revelation 21:4 - “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
