Tuesday, February 26 - Smile

Did you know that your smile could change someone’s outlook on the day? Love this quote I saw, “Let your smile change the world, but don’t let the world change your smile.”

I was on the soccer field watching the kids play and a little girl, maybe 7 years old, came up to me and started talking in Spanish. The only thing I could do is smile. I know she had something important to say to me, but I couldn’t understand what it was and there were no interpreters around.

I never realized how important a smile is in every day life. I try to make it a habit to smile to everyone I meet.

We had our devotion in the church that morning. After the devotion, there was an older man that walked in the church and started talking (in Spanish) to Larry, our leader. You could tell that he was asking for prayer. Larry told us to gather around and pray for our new friend. He goes around throughout the town, every day, to pray for people or to tell them about Jesus.

We invited our new friend and his wife to breakfast and enjoyed hearing their story.

Studies show that smiling can be good for your health, even reduce stress. Without saying a word, a smile tells others that you like them and that you are pleased to meet them.

Show the image of God with a smile to everyone you meet today. It may bless you in the meantime.

Proverbs 17:22 - “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
