Make every second count.

In this world of rushed days, it is so important to stop and smell the roses, so to speak. We wake up every day with appointments, schedules and routines that we determine somehow to get through.

The question for all of you reading this, is do you take time to stop and listen to the world around you? When was the last time you heard a bird sing, or stopped long enough to smell the summer flowers? I challenge each of you to just pause at some moment in today’s busy schedule and listen to your own heartbeat. Thank God above for giving you a heart, breath in your lungs, and the ability to see.

In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus tells His followers not to worry about their lives, food, or clothing. He famously points to the lilies of the field, noting how beautifully God clothes them without them laboring or spinning. Pausing to trust God and appreciate the present is a direct antidote to worldly anxiety.

We only get one chance at this life, so make every second count. Fellow Christians, take the time today to listen to someone; I can almost promise they will have a story for you that will take your mind off your own troubles and help you see them where they are.

No matter what stage of spiritual growth you and I are in, God wants us to stop and take time with Him so we can be drawn by the sweet smell of the revelation of His presence in His process in our lives.

Make every second count, starting today.

Matthew 6:25 - “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”
