Hope & peace.
I’ve come to learn that hope and peace go together. One could say that peace is an absence of conflict, but is it really? Hope is that expectation, or a possibility that something might happen. In the Bible, hope and peace are intertwined, stemming from faith and trust inGod, and are gifts that provide assurance and strength even in difficult circumstances.
We live in difficult times. That’s a fact. Hopelessness is a growing problem, and it’s a deadly problem. Some people cross their fingers and hope for the best. But, hope in Christ is so much more. In the Bible, hope describes an enduring, settled confidence in the promises of God while we still await the ultimate fulfillment of those promises. And, without hope, how can we have peace?
Peace is something everyone wants, yet few seem to find. What is peace? I guess it depends on who you ask. It can be defined as tranquility, harmony, or security. But the peace that is from Jesus, well, it is beyond understanding to the non-Christian. Peace is directly related to the actions and attitudes of individuals; but it is ultimately a gift from God.
Got hope? Got peace? God will give His peace to those who trust Him.
I encourage my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to share the hope and peace in Jesus with someone today. We could all use a little faith and something to believe in and look forward to. Why not Jesus?
My hope is in our Creator God, who gives me peace to make it through whatever comes my way.
John 14:27 - “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
