Self focused.
As a young Christian in my teens, I learned early on to serve others by watching the older women in my church. Back then, there wasn’t as many nursing homes, so most families took care of their elderly parents in their own home. But most of all, I remember seeing the smiles of the people as we came into the room.
I loved serving others then, and still do. After all, if we are to be Christ-like, serving is His purpose for each and everyone of us.
God wants more for you than you could ever want for yourself. He’s more interested in your spiritual heart and your relationship with Him, because He knows that nothing else will satisfy you the way He can.
When we focus on ourselves, we become selfish. When we focus on others, we become selfless.
Where’s your focus today? Set your attention to the Creator of the Universe. Think on all of His creation; the stars in the sky, the birds of the air, the flowers of the fields, and most of all, you and me.
Philippians 2:3-4 - “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
