Service.

Whatever your job title is, cook, accountant, mom, you have a duty to someone or some entity. Service is helping others who need assistance.

Christlike service grows out of genuine love for God and of love and concern for those whom He gives opportunities and direction to help.

I remember my first mission trip. I was so unsure of myself and not even confident that I was going to do any good to anyone. That was so far from the truth. God used that opportunity to show me talents and skills I didn’t know I had. That one week out of my life changed my trajectory forever. I came back home, humbled with all that God has given me, not only physically but spiritually.

To serve a meal to those little, deprived, homeless children not only broke my heart but made me realize (maybe for the first time) that I serve a great great God, the Creator of the universe. These are His children and in serving them, I was also serving Christ.

Take time out today to serve someone, not out of something you’ll get in return but out of a humble heart, willing and able to serve others.

Romans 12:10 - “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
