The end of the movie.

Have you ever started to watch a movie and someone had already told you what happens in the end? And, even though there is drama and action, you can be at ease, knowing that everything turns out good.

If you haven’t heard, there is an end to this life we’re living on earth. The good news is, you can know the ending, and your choice of who you’re living for now, will determine whether the rest of life after death will be a good or bad ending.

Some think that they don’t need to decide now or that they can just live life doing good deeds staying out of everyone’s way. That’s a scary place to be.

Let God write your script. I promise you, it will be a happy ending. And, along the way, He can add new and exciting seasons and He always promises to be beside you in the scary or unexpected scenes.

God’s ending to this life is never-ending in the life to come.

Revelation 10:7 - “but that in the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, the mystery of God would be fulfilled, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”

Preach Jesus, and if you must, use words.

I grew up during a time where preachers in my little country church preached fire and brimstone. I was scared to death of them.

They didn’t seem to do a whole lot of listening. But, to their credit, they did preach from the Bible. Their message was to the point. If you don’t surrender your life to Jesus (they preached), you will go to hell!

Well, I did surrender my life to Jesus when I was 16 years old. The problem was, no one came along beside me to teach me this new life. I guess they all expected me to change my ways and follow Jesus, without any other guidance.

I now know that even after you give your life to Jesus, you need discipleship. What does this look like? It’s when mature Christian helps you learn how to read the Bible. It’s someone who can help you understand how Jesus wants us to live.

I’m not going to go around and preach to others who aren’t saved. My goal is to live a life, pleasing to God and appetizing to the non-believer.

I won’t preach Jesus; I will live it out daily.

So, when someone I don’t know looks at me, they see someone that is happy, peaceful and a person that has a servant heart and attitude.

Let others see Jesus in you.

Matthew 5:16 - “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Love overcomes fear.

You see the flames engulfing the burning building, and then you see a hysterical mother, screaming that her baby is inside the building. Human instinct has us running into the building to save the baby. Love overcomes fear. Fear isn’t even a thought; getting the baby out of the fire consumes us.

Let’s take the above scenario in a different light. What would happen if that same burning building contained your worst enemy? What if it was someone that had hurt you in the past? Would you still run into the building to save him/her?

1 John 4:18 - “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.”

The Bible says that God is love, and in God, there is no fear.

Fear has to do with punishment. There is a day of judgment coming. But, if you are a Christian and know the love of God, then you have no fear of judgment.

The person who rejects Jesus is the one who should be scared.

The key to overcoming fear is total and complete trust in God.

Trust God. Refuse to give into fear. Love others - no matter their flaws or what they’ve done to you. After all, you were once a sinner, and Jesus loves you.

Deer hunting

Something you may not know about me is that I was a deer hunter several years ago. I was, and still am eager to try new things, and I enjoyed it, at the time. I have an 8 point buck on my basement wall to prove it.

But, to tell you the truth, I couldn’t kill a deer or any other animal today.

The one thing that is intriguing about hunting is that usually the animal has no idea you’re searching for him. He has no idea your aiming your loaded gun or bow at him.

Isn’t this just like us? We have no idea when satan will attack. We are not aware where he’ll attack. But, one thing for sure, he’s prowling around; he’s behind the hunter’s blind; he’s even waiting to take the first shot.

Does this scare you? Yeah, me too. But, the one thing that is not common to the above story is I know who my protector is. I know someone who will take the bullet for me. I trust God will step in between me and the arrow coming my way.

Who wouldn’t want that kind of protection? Why go around scared and being vulnerable.

Some hunters will bait their deer, placing food in an open field, waiting in the blind for them to come and eat. Once the deer is distracted by eating, they take the shot. He’s dead within a split second. It’s over.

Don’t let another day go by without knowing Jesus.

You could be taken out within one shot.

Jesus is the only way to take the shot and instead of facing death, you can face eternity with him.

Matthew 25:13 - “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

David brought a rock to a sword fight.

Can you imagine what you would be thinking if you witnessed a small-framed shepherd boy bringing a rock and a sling to an auditorium to fight a very large giant of a man with a sword?

In the Bible is a man named David, a man after God’s own heart, who stood tall and confident, knowing that ‘God’s got this.’

Have you ever been in David’s shoes? Not literally, of course. But, have you ever faced a challenge, maybe physically, maybe mentally, and instead of being afraid, you faced it head on? Did you stand strong and confident, knowing that God will fight the battle? You realized in your own strength you will lose, but with God on your side, victory is not far at hand.

Who or what giant(s) are you facing today? Do you feel ready for battle? Does God know you’re scared, but trusting Him in this?

We all face our giants daily. Be prepared for the battle, and if all you have is a rock, no worries, trust God.

1 Samuel 17:45 - "Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

Harvesting takes patience.

Harvesting is the process of gathering a crop from the fields.

I’ve heard that there is a lot that goes into planting and harvesting a crop. But, one of the most important tools needed for harvesting is patience.

A farmer needs to know the right time to plant; the right time to harvest. As the crop is growing, he ensures it gets enough sun and water, in order for it to grow to the maturity level needed.

In my opinion, the farmer has to wear many hats. He needs to know the soil, the strategies of watering, especially when the rain doesn’t come.

So it is with Christians. Whether we are sowing seeds through a ministry, facing an unseen storm, or serving others in need. We need patience.

Ecclesiastes 11:6 - “In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.”

It doesn’t matter when and where we sow spiritual seeds. It’s not our job to keep the seeds nourished and growing. That’s God’s job. He’s using each of us (if we allow Him), those who accept the challenge, to sow the seeds and be patient while God grows the crop.

We also have to accept the fact that we many not be around to see the harvest. But, that’s ok. We’ll see them in Heaven some day.

Forgive, and re-forgive.

What would you do if someone deliberately hurt you, whether it was physically or emotionally? Would your thoughts immediately go to ‘revenge?’ Would you want to do the same thing back to them? That’s called revenge. And, if you’re a Christian, I hope that instead of thinking revenge, you would be thinking MERCY.

I’m not saying to just let the accusations go, and let someone walk all over you. It’s ok to be angry.

But, as a Christian, revenge shouldn’t even be a thought. Sometimes you have to forgive, then re-forgive, again and again.

After all, this is what Jesus did and aren’t we striving to be more like Him?

Instead of thinking revenge the next time someone hurts you, think mercy.

After all, who knows what kind of day or week they’ve had. Mercy may be all they have left to hold onto.

Forgive and re-forgive. Show mercy.

Romans 12:19 - “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

Becoming a Christian doesn't make a bad person good enough.

A true conversion starts with the heart. Unless you’ve been born again, you will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Some may think that they’ll give their life to God when they’re old or have done all the things they want to do. They may think that they’re not ready to be a ‘good’ person right now.

No one, not one human on earth is good enough to be a Christian. We’re all sinners. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Don’t wait until you’re good enough. God wants you to come as you are; broken, hurting, lonely and hopeless.

But even after you’ve given your life to Christ, this doesn’t mean that all of a sudden, you’re this ‘golden child of God.’ On the contrary. We all face sin and live with sin every day. But, thank God that He’s already died for all of our sins; He’s paid the price for all our past sins, or the sins of our future.

That’s why it says in the Bile that we have to die to self every day. This means laying down the old life and living for Jesus.

None of us will be perfect in this life, but we can serve the one perfect God, who will make us all perfect one day when He takes us home to Heaven, for all eternity.

Isaiah 12:2 - “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
