Am I making a difference?

I can remember early in my career, working my hardest, staying late just to reach a deadline or impress my boss.

Preserving.

My mom used to do a lot of canning; taking vegetables from the garden and preparing them to use in the winter months.

God does the same in us. God promises to preserve His creation.

Power in the swing.

I am always surprised when I attempt to hit this tiny ball with a metal club in the game of golf. I’m not very good at the game, but it’s fun to play. I either have too much power and the ball goes really far, sometimes in the wrong direction, or I don’t give it enough power and find that it’s only gone a few feet from my body.

Running on empty.

Time seems to be getting shorter as the days fly by, like speeding cars on a four lane highway. Our lives get so busy that when we stop and look up, and we wonder how in the world we got there.

There have been seasons in my life where I have been running to God, away from Him, or just running aimlessly on my own.

Charging station.

Almost everyone has a cell phone and unlike our old land lines, they have to be charged daily. If left uncharged, they will run out of power and be useless.

When I think of my life as a Christian, I realize that my alone time with God is my charging station.

Wait, on God.

Waiting is a part of life. We make plans and we wait. The waiting room is among the most popular; waiting on the next job, or even waiting on someone to come back to you.

Waiting is hard sometimes, especially if we’re concerned or anxious over the outcome; the health report, the final exam or even the birth of a baby.
